Tiger Woods’ Mother, Kultida Woods Dead; Obituary, Cause Of Death

The mother of gold legend Tiger Woods, Kultida Woods, died on Tuesday. Her age was 78.

Tiger posted on social media to confirm the death of his mother. He didn’t mention the cause or the location of her death.

“It is with heartfelt sadness that I want to share that my dear mother, Kultida Woods, passed away early this morning. My Mom was a force of nature all her own, her spirit was simply undeniable,” his post read.

“She was quick with the needle and a laugh. She was my biggest fan, and greatest supporter, without her none of my personal achievements would have been possible. She was loved by so many, but especially by her two grandchildren, Sam and Charlie. Thank you all for your support, prayers, and privacy at this difficult time for me and my family. Love you, Mom.”

The reason of death was not disclosed.

Kultida was a regular at Tiger’s golf events as he worked his way up to become one of the best golfers of all time.

Tiger made care to thank his mother for her unwavering support when he accepted the Bob Jones Award from the United States Golf Association 2024.

“ I didn’t do this alone,” Tiger said. “I had the greatest rock that any child could possibly have: my mom.”

She was born Kultilda Punsawad in Kanchanaburi, Thailand, on September 30, 1946. She was a secretary in Bangkok and met Earl Woods in her own country when he was serving in the United States. In 1968, she came to the United States. Tiger was born in 1975 in Cypress, California, after the couple moved there after getting married in New York.

The pair had been married for 37 years until Earl Woodsthen passed away from cancer in May 2006 at the age of 74.

Tiger referred to his mother as the “enforcer,” but his father was given credit for his competitive nature.

“It started with Mom,” Tiger said at the launch event for his Sun Day Red clothing line last year. “Mom thought being a Capricorn that my power color was red, so I wore red as a junior golfer and I won some tournaments.

“Lo and behold, I go to a university that is red, Stanford is red. We wore red on the final day of every single tournament, and then every single tournament I’ve played as a professional I’ve worn red. It’s just become synonymous with me,” he continued.
