Pastor Paul Sheppard, the leader of the Destiny Christian Fellowship in Fremont, California, passed away tragically and unexpectedly, according to the Sheppard family.

First Lady Meredith Sheppard and the Sheppard Family jointly released a statement announcing the death of Pastor Sheppard, who had served in pastoral ministry since 1982, on Saturday, January 25, 2025.
“We regret to inform you of the passing of my husband and our beloved pastor, Pastor Paul E. Sheppard, who passed away on Saturday, January 25, 2025,” the family statement said.
Since 2009, Pastor Sheppard has served as the senior pastor of Destiny Christian Fellowship. From 1989 to 2009, he served as the senior pastor of Abundant Life Christian Fellowship in Mountain View, California, for twenty years.
Pastor Paul Earl Sheppard served as an associate pastor at West Oak Lane Church of God in his birthplace of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, after being called to ministry in 1982.
He received a Master of Ministry degree and a Doctorate of Divinity from the Southern CA School of Ministry, the University of Pennsylvania, and the Center for Urban Theological Studies.
Sheppard has written books such as Rebuilding What the Enemy Almost Destroyed, Why God Created Dads, and Build a Bridge and Get Over It. She also presents the wildly successful podcast Destined for Victory.
Sheppard’s two children, Aaron Sheppard and Alicia Greer, as well as his wife Meredith, whom he married in 1982, survive him.
His congregation was shocked to learn of his death, and the majority of them wrote notes of respect.
“Pastor Paul laid that word down like no other and my last few times coming have been great,” one such tribute read.
“The best pastor. he taught us in laymens terms, with a sense of humor added in, always rightly dividing the Word of Truth,” another congregant wrote.
